What you say resonates with me! I hated the driving lessons part and loved the 0-11 years! I taught them to read and they are decent adults… we don’t agree on everything but we all get along. I would say that I managed to keep them all alive, but then I think of my neighbors, who lost their 3year old daughter in a drowning accident. Why was the hand of God not on their child but preserved mine when she was trapped in water after a canoe accident? Like you, my faith, hope, everything, rests on God. I believe God was with the 3 year old and will be with mine even after I am gone. We do what we can to keep them safe and prepare them for life, but their lives, they’re souls, that’s all in and ONLY in God’s hands. Which leaves us free to focus on what we can do, and we might as well enjoy it as much as possible! 🤗

The reason why life rarely ends up the way we thought it would is directly related to there being too many disparate versions of its end being reported by those claiming to have inside knowledge.

Dear Jenny, we have been in the "caring for hazardous baby/toddler/preschooler" for the past 10 years now and I can attest to the "keeping alive" and near-constant "feeling like you're treading water and trying not to drown" bit (and yet full of joy as well). It is comforting and encouraging to hear that others share the experience! That passage with Peter walking out and then floundering and being saved has always spoken deeply to me. Thank you for a very uplifting post. God be with you!

Having little ones is a constant test of faith.

They have more energy than you, they are eternally curious, and they are prone to get into trouble. Children will test your patience, fortitude, and willpower. Without the grace and strength given to you by God, it is nearly impossible to raise them up properly.

Being a parent is not for the weak of heart. It is a full time job being a good parent.

God bless.
